Description:

The position is in accordance with § 98 of the Austrian Universities’ Act
(Universitätsgesetz-UG 2002), based on a civil-law employment contract with
the University on the basis of the Salaried Employees Act
(Angestelltengesetz). It will be concluded for an unlimited period; the extent
of employment is 100%.

Responsibilities: The chair-holder represents the subject of “Language
Education for English as a Foreign Language” in research and teaching with a
focus on the Austrian school context. She/he teaches Language Education for
EFL and cross-linguistic Language Education in the Secondary School Teacher
Training (BA and MA) and the PhD of Education and supervises BA, MA and PhD
theses. The research is theoretical and empirical (quantitative/qualitative)
focusing on innovation in the school context. She/he participates in
conceptualizing teacher education at the Department, faculties and partner
institutions of “PädagogInnenbildung Neu” (new teacher training program).
She/he seeks to establish cooperations with educational-training-institutions.
She/he commits to applying for third-party-funded projects. Involvement in
academic administration and self-governance is part of the job.

Requirements:

a) a degree of English Language Education in higher education in Austria or an
equivalent abroad
b) pertinent habilitation or comparable qualification in the field
c) professional experience in teaching English at educational institutions
(secondary school level) in Austria or abroad
d) publications in international peer-reviewed academic journals and with
leading publishing houses
e) theoretical and/or empirical innovative research in English Language
Education in school contexts
f) experience in acquiring and managing external research funds
g) involvement in international research and research networks
h) familiarity with European initiatives and programs pertinent to the
position
i) good knowledge of the Austrian school context and education systems,
especially in “PädagogInnenbildung Neu”
j) teaching qualification and experience of teaching at university level
(preferred several years)
k) Social, management and leadership skills
l) Language competence according to the CEFR: English C2, German C1

The University of Innsbruck is committed to increasing the percentage of

In line with the Collective Bargaining Agreement professors are in
remuneration group A 1, i.e., for a full-term professorship a basic salary of
5.130,20 Euro (14 times) is provided. Depending on the candidate’s
qualifications and experience a higher salary may be negotiated with the
