Meeting Description:

The International Conference on Formal Linguistics (ICFL) is a biennial
international event organized by the Chinese Association of Formal
Linguistics, which is affiliated with China Association for Comparative
Studies of English and Chinese. First launched in 2001, the conference has
become a leading forum in China attracting scholars from all over the world to
exchange new ideas and research findings in formal linguistics.

The 9th International Conference on Formal Linguistics (ICFL-9) will be held
in Shanghai, China, on November 20-22, 2020. It is co-organized and sponsored
by the College of Foreign Languages and Literature at Fudan University, the
School of Foreign Languages at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and the
Department of Linguistics and Modern Languages at The Chinese University of
Hong Kong, and co-sponsored by the Department of Chinese Language and
Literature at Fudan University and the Institute of Linguistics at Shanghai
International Studies University.


Call for Papers:

ICFL-9 invites submissions of abstracts on all topics in the field of formal
linguistics, including (but not limited to) syntax, semantics, phonology,
morphology, language acquisition, language processing, and biolinguistics. The
central theme for this year's conference is ''universals and
cross-linguistic/cross-modal variation''. We especially encourage submissions
from graduate students and early career scholars.

Important Dates:

Deadline for abstract submission: June 20, 2020
Notification of acceptance: August 20, 2020
Conference dates: November 20, 2020 - November 22, 2020

Submission Guidelines:

Abstracts can be written in either English (Times New Roman font, size 12) or
Chinese (Song font, size small 4).
Abstracts should be limited to one page (A4, including examples and selected
references), single-spaced, with margin of 1 inch on all sides.
Authors should submit an anonymous copy in PDF format through EasyChair
(https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=icfl9), with the abstract file named
in the following way: ''LastName_FirstName.pdf'' (for single-authored papers),
''LastName_FirstName_co.pdf'' (for co-authored papers). For example, Jill
Smith would name her abstract file ''Smith_Jill.pdf'', or
''Smith_Jill_co.pdf'' for a co-authored paper.
Submissions are limited to one individual and one joint abstract per author.
Registration

Rates: RMB 1000 (faculty); RMB 500 (students). Details of registration and
payment options will be provided in the letter of acceptance.
