Meeting Description:

The 6th international CRILL conference 2020 aims to provide a stage for an
extensive exploration of the interdisciplinary nature of law both as a
discipline and as an institutional/professional and organizational practice
through the lenses of language, discourse and communication. We therefore
invite original paper presentations to contribute to any of the broad areas
listed below:

1. Boundary crossing between law and other disciplines and practices -
medicine, healthcare, nursing, economics, business, finance, history,
sociology, psychology, etc.
2. Cross-wise issues focusing on bioethics and law, eco-bioethics, nursing
ethics and law, pharmacy ethics and law, bioethics and religion, professional
risk and bioethics, social inclusion and bioethics
3. Ethical, political and other implications for digitalization of medical
research and healthcare provision, including forensic science
4. Construction of interdisciplinary discourse focusing on emergent human
rights and health law, politics of the environment, migration and law, crime
and society
5. Contesting or harmonising dynamics of identities, power and ideology in law
and other disciplinary practices
6. Construction and interpretation of interdisciplinary discourses for lay
audiences

We welcome contributions on these and other related topic areas using a range
of scholarly approaches to theoretical and methodological debates. Such
approaches include, but are not limited to: discourse (textual) and (critical)
genre analyses, critical discourse analysis, conversation analysis,
corpus-based discourse analysis, interactional sociolinguistics, ethnography
and communication analyses, multimodal discourse analysis, mediated discourse
analysis, forensic linguistics, and translation/interpreting.

In addition to applied linguists, the conference brings together academics,
researchers, and practitioners from other backgrounds to exchange new ideas as
well as discuss the challenges encountered and solutions adopted.

Call for Papers: 

Presentation guidelines - Individual and joint papers will be allotted 20
minutes, plus 5 minutes each for discussion at the end of the part-session.
Language of presentation - English
Abstract Submission - Contributors are invited to send an abstract of their
proposed paper in MS Word (10pt) of not more than 300 words (excluding
references) by no later than 14 February 2020 to the following address:

Contributors should specify in the abstract one of the topic areas (e.g. 1, 2)
or ‘Other’ areas into which their papers fall and send their proposals using
the form provided: Surname(s)_Crill 2020 abstract
Paper proposals will be evaluated on the basis of originality of the topic and
its relevance to conference objectives, appropriacy of background information
and literature, research design and method used, as well as clarity of
language and presentation of questions/hypothesis posed.
