Summer School ISOLDE (Infant Studies on Language Development in Europe)

Focus: ISOLDE is a biannual international summer school. It is specifically organised to bring together students and early stage researchers who work in language acquisition research in Europe to increase exchange and collaboration between young researchers.
Minimum Education Level: Undergraduate


Description:
Primarily the summer school is targeted at PhD students and Post-Docs but
Master and Bachelor students are welcome, too. Six courses (two on methods)
will be taught by experts in the field of infant language acquisition. In
addition to the courses, participants are encouraged to present their work as
a poster on past, ongoing or future studies. The will be also time for social
activities and opportunities to exchange ideas and share experiences.

The courses are:
- Titia Benders (Macquarie U): How phonetics can inform infant studies:
Infant-directed speech (IDS) & perceptual cues [6 hrs]
- Matt Hilton (U Potsdam): Executive functions and language development [3
hrs]
- Liquan Liu (U Oslo): Bilingualism in infancy [6 hrs]
- Carolyn Quam (Portland State U): Variability and flexibility in word
learning [6 hrs]
- Claudia Männel (MPI Leipzig/Charité Berlin): ERPs in language acquisition
[method course, 3 hrs]
- Alan Langus/Tom Fritzsche (U Potsdam): Pupillometry [method course, 3 hrs]

Tuition Explanation: Early bird: 100 € (until 29-Feb 2020)

Registration Instructions:
The registration is open. If you register before the 29th of February the
early bird registration fee applies (100 € instead of 120 €). All participants
are encouraged to present their own work (planned or completed) as a poster.
Please indicate if you would like to do so and submit a one-page poster
abstract as a separate file (preferably PDF).
