Doctoral Candidate (m/f/d) Hearing4all / English Linguistics, Language
Acquisition, and Language Processing

The cluster of excellence Hearing4all and the junior professor of English
Linguistics, Language Acquisition, and Language Processing, Prof. Dr. Marcel
Schlechtweg, at the Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg are looking for a
doctoral candidate (Salary: 65 % according to German TV-L E13). The position
is available for 3 years and supposed to be filled as soon as possible.

Expectations:
- Future research projects and publications contributing to the research goals
of the cluster, specifically to research thread 1 Auditory processing deficits
throughout the lifespan, in which one of the goals is to identify the impact
of hearing loss in young and old age on cognitive and language development and
its decline
- Future research projects and publications connecting the aforementioned
aspects of language acquisition and/or processing to one or more of the
following core areas in linguistics: Phonetics, phonology, and/or morphology
- If possible: Future research projects and publications focusing on or having
a connection to the English language 
- Support of the chair in different respects (e.g., assistance in experimental
work)

Requirements:
- Academic university degree in the field of psycholinguistics, linguistics,
or a related discipline
- Ability to perform excellent scientific work; demonstrated, for instance, by
the outstanding quality of the Master’s thesis
- Expertise in psycholinguistics and the following core areas of linguistics:
Phonetics, phonology, and/or morphology
- High working knowledge of English

Desirable Competencies:
- Experience in experimental work in linguistics and/or psycholinguistics
(e.g., reaction-time (Eprime), production (Praat), eye-tracking, ERP studies)
- Experience in statistical analysis (e.g., statistical program R,
mixed-effects models)
- Expertise in further core areas of linguistics (e.g., syntax, semantics,
pragmatics)
