September 17-18, 2020 in Poznań in virtual form.

The main subject will be: The role of languages in intercultural
communication.

Call for Papers:

Intercultural communication is an everyday occurrence in our globalizing age.
Meetings between people from difference cultures can lead to misunderstandings
and conflicts. Only a knowledge of one's own and other cultures, awareness and
openness to difference can lead to effective intercultural communication. The
language used by those communicating (whether the native language of one of
the parties or a common interlanguage) plays a role in the success of
communication as well. The role played by international languages such as
English, Spanish and others, as well as international planned languages such
as Esperanto, in interpersonal or international contexts is the focus of the
symposium.

Papers on the following subjects are welcome:
- natural languages in intercultural and international communication
- language misunderstandings and conflicts in intercultural communication
- language policy in multicultural and multilingual countries
- communication between immigrants and natives
- language challenges in a changing Europe
- communication in Esperanto
  * language features that aid in intercultural communication
  * literature as a carrier of international issues and values, as a bridge
between cultures
  * instruction in intercultural values
  * the Esperanto movement for more equal communication
- other international auxiliary languages in intercultural communication

Each presenter will have 30 minutes, including 10 minutes for discussion.
