Subject: New Book Series: ELCS - Education, Language and Communication Studies - Call for papers

 
ELCS – Education, Language and Communication Studies is a new international
multilingual series published by the Linguistic Research Laboratory of the
University of Rome “Foro Italico”. It is designed to bring together scholars
willing to contribute on a variety of topics dealing with Linguistics, Applied
Linguistics, second language teaching/learning, Second Language Acquisition,
and English for Specific Purposes (ESP) as well as Language for Specific
Purposes (LSP). The book series is concerned with a range of languages,
including English, Italian, Spanish, French and German. It is an online-only
and open access book series, licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non
commercial-No derivs 3.0 Unported. All articles undergo double-blind peer
review process.

Vol. 1 – Language teaching for sport

The new series ELCS – Education, Language and Communication Studies, promoted
and published by the linguistic research laboratory of the University of Rome
“Foro Italico”, will devote the inaugural volume to the theme of language
teaching for the sports sector in higher education. This first volume aims to
provide a platform for sharing and exploiting the experience of language
teaching in this specific field, thus building on the best practices tested,
the challenges faced through the use of new techniques and the possible
evolution and adaptation of teaching and evaluation strategies over time.
Proposals must concern one of the following languages: English, Italian,
Spanish, French and German. Particular importance will also be given to the
use of digital and technological tools for the teaching of these languages.

We welcome submissions that address one or more of the topics below in the
sports sector:

- Classroom teaching and “blended” or online teaching
- Pre-, formative and final assessment of language skills
- Innovative digital and technological tools in language teaching and
assessment
- Language teaching and inclusion activities for students with special needs
- Language teaching at university
- Multilingualism and language exchanges applied to teaching (Tandem)

Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words, with max 5 references, and
should be written either in English or Italian. They should be sent to the
following email address claforoitalico at uniroma4.it by 18 October 2020,
specifying the relevant theme(s).

Contributors should follow the instructions below and use the templates
provided:

- Fill in the “Cover sheet” document with your personal information as
indicated in the appropriate template
- Send your abstract without indicating the author(s)’ name(s) and
affiliation(s) as in the “Abstract” template

All abstracts will be submitted to a double-blind review process and will be
evaluated according to the following criteria:

- Original topic of relevance to volume theme(s)
- Appropriate theoretical background and references
- Clearly articulated aim(s), methodological approach and (preliminary)
findings
- Well-structured and clearly written

Authors will receive the notification of abstract acceptance by 18 November
2020.

Important dates:

18 October 2020: deadline for submitting abstracts

18 November 2020: notification of abstract acceptance

28 February 2021: provisional deadline for paper submission

The volume, with ISBN and DOI, will be published in digital format and open
access with Creative Commons licence and indexed in the main scientific
