From: Antoine GUILLAUME [antoine.guillaume at cnrs.fr]
Subject: General Linguistics; Neurolinguistics; Psycholinguistics; Typology: Post Doc, Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Lyon, France

University or Organization: Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique
Department: Laboratoire Dynamique du Langage (DDL)
Job Location: Lyon, France
Web Address: http://www.ddl.cnrs.fr/index.asp?Langue=EN
Job Title: Postdoctoral Researcher in Description/Typology and Psycho-/Neurolinguistics
Job Rank: Post Doc

Specialty Areas: General Linguistics; Neurolinguistics; Psycholinguistics; Typology

Description:

The CNRS research lab “Dynamique du Langage” in Lyon, France, invites
applications for a 2-year post-doctoral position at the interface of language
description/typology and psycho-/neurolinguistics.

General information:
Contract Period: 24 months
Expected date of employment: 1 January 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter
Proportion of work: Full time
Remuneration: Between 2649€ (2128€ take-home pay) and 3768€ (3037€ take-home
pay) gross monthly according to experience
Desired level of education: PhD

Missions:
The postdoctoral project is expected to fit into the research agenda of the
LabEx ASLAN, which provides the funding for the fellowship, and to be at the
interface of the following two main research strands of the DDL laboratory:
(1) description, typology, fieldwork, language change, history and ecology of
language and languages (conducted in the new “Linguistic diversity and its
sources” DiLiS research axis – a fusion of the previous DTT and HELAN2 axes),
and (2) psycho- and neurolinguistics, lifespan language development and
processing in typical and atypical populations (conducted in the “Development
Neurocognition Disorders” DENDY research axis).

Of particular interest to us, but not limited to, are projects investigating
how the human sensory and motor systems may impose their own constraints on
linguistic diversity, in particular in the semantic domains of motion and/or
perception (topic currently developed at DDL within the newly emerging
interdisciplinary research group “Perceptual-motor constraints and linguistic
variation” CoVaLi).

Activities:
The postdoctoral fellow will conduct his/her own research project at the
intersection of the DiLiS (DTT/HELAN2) and DENDY research axes and within the
CoVaLi transversal theme, participating in various activities organized in the
DDL lab (meetings, thematic seminars…). S/he is expected to present the
results of his/her research at international venues and publish them in
peer-reviewed international journals.

Skills:
- PhD in general linguistics (description, typology, language change, history
and ecology of language and languages) or in cognitive sciences, neurosciences
or psychology (psycholinguistics, neuroimaging of language, language
processing in typical and atypical populations)
- Training in experimental psycho- / neurolinguistics (if PhD in general
linguistics) or in descriptive/typological linguistics (if PhD in psycho- /
neurolinguistics) would be a great asset

Work context:
The place of work will be the laboratoire Dynamique Du Langage, located in the
Maison des Sciences de l’Homme Lyon Saint-Etienne in Lyon, France. French is
the language of general communication in the workplace, but English is
frequently used for scientific meetings and seminars. Some knowledge of French
is thus an advantage but not a requirement.

Interviews and final decision: between December 1 and 15, 2020
Postdoctoral start date: beginning of 2021

well as with the scientific issues tackled by the DiLiS (DTT/HELAN2) and DENDY
research axes. Please also provide a tentative work plan, including a
publication plan.

In addition, ensure that two referees send us their letters of reference
independently at the following email adresse: ddl at cnrs.fr.
