Description:

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Potsdam invites
applications for a full-time postdoc position (40h/week) associated with the
research group on variation in morphology/morphosyntax, led by Doreen Georgi.
We are looking for a highly motivated person with a strong background in
grammar theory in these areas. The candidate is expected to carry out
internationally visible research and to support the chair in teaching and
academic administration. 

The employment is limited to max. 6 years (depending on previous postdoc
employments, in accordance with the WissZeitVG law); research and travel funds
are available.

The salary (including social benefits) is based on the pay scale TV-L E13
(available at https://oeffentlicher-dienst.info/tv-l/allg/).

Intended starting date: March 1st or April 1st 2021

Expected Qualifications:
- An excellent PhD in linguistics (degree in hand at the latest when the
position starts)
- Expertise in grammatical theory in the areas of morphology/morphosyntax (as
documented by peer-reviewed publications in international journals) 
- Research focus on micro- or microvariation, typology
- Additional expertise in one of the following areas is welcome but not
required: interface to phonology or semantics, field work, experimental
approaches, work on non-Indo-European languages
- Preferably: teaching experience
- Previous knowledge of German is not required.

Teaching Duties:
- Teach 2 courses per semester (= 4 hours/week) in the morphology and syntax
modules of the BSc and MSc Linguistics programmes at the Department of
Linguistics (basic and advanced courses)
- Courses in the MSc are taught in English (also possible in the BSc)
- Supervision of BSc/MSc theses

The University of Potsdam hosts leading groups in the field of linguistics and
cognitive sciences. Linguistics is part of the University’s research focus on
cognitive science (http://www.uni-potsdam.de/en/cognitive-sciences/index.html)
and contributes to the Collaborative Research Centre 1287 on the Limits of
Variability in Language (https://www.uni-potsdam.de/en/sfb1287/index). The
Berlin/Potsdam area represents a vibrant international research community in
the domain of linguistics.
