Level: PhD

Duties: Research

Specialty Areas: General Linguistics

Description:

The Leibniz-Zentrum Allgemeine Sprachwissenschaft (ZAS) in Berlin invites
applications for finishing a doctoral dissertation in linguistics starting
January 1st, 2021 to December 31, 2022. Pay level is 50% TDöV-E13. The
position is incompatible with other simultaneous payed employment or a
simultaneous outside fellowship. Residency in or close to Berlin is required,
at least for part of the time.

ZAS is not a degree-granting institution; the successful applicant will have
to be in the doctoral program of a university. The research topic of the
dissertation should fit into one or more of the current research themes at ZAS
(see https://www.leibniz-zas.de/en/research/research-themes/)

Applicants should send, in a single pdf file named “doctoral_position + family
name of applicant”, an application containing:
(a) An application letter of maximally two pages describing the dissertation
project and its current state. It should specify how the dissertation project
would relate to ZAS and its research themes, and if possible, to particular
researchers at ZAS. It should describe what has been done and outline a plan
of the tasks that are still ahead, and it should contain a time-table for
completing and defending the dissertation.
(b) An academic CV including birth year and nationality, with publications and
web-links to maximally three pdfs that you consider most relevant for your
work.
(c) An supporting letter by the supervisor(s) that should also comment on the
current state of the dissertation work and its possible completion, as
detailed in (a).
(d) Scans of the documents indicating academic degrees and the registering to
a doctoral program.

This pdf file should be sent by e-mail with “ZAS Doctoral Position” in the
subject line, by November 30, 2020 to krifka at leibniz-zas.de.

ZAS is an equal opportunity employer. All applicants will be considered for
employment without attention to ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation,
gender identity, national origin, age, or disability status.
