Description:

The Technical University of Kaiserslautern (TUK) is a research university with a focus on engineering and natural sciences, and an international profile. It is the center of the up-and-coming IT hub in the heart of the Palatinate region, which is actively expanding in the areas of future software technologies and artificial intelligence, especially in the field of machine learning. TUK focuses on strong research, excellent teaching and an open, familiar atmosphere. More than 100 degrees are offered in 12 faculties as well as the distance learning center DISC. The below full-time position is offered in the department of computer science at the next available possible date (until 2024). The position is in the context of a project that helps to promote women in the research area of machine learning.

PhD Research Position (m/f/d)

Your tasks are:
- Participation in a project on the topic of „Disentanglement of Style and Topic in Text Data“
- Developing algorithms and methods for the analysis and generation of text data, for hierarchical topic models, transfer learning, domain adaptation, and knowledge insertion/extraction using deep neural networks
- Supervising theses and student assistants

Our requirements:
- University degree (Master, Diplom or similar) in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Applied Mathematics or comparable degrees
- Good communication and presentation skills in English
- Good mathematical background is preferred
- Experience in handling text data and/or generative deep models is preferred
