Linguistic Field(s): Language Acquisition

Meeting Description:

We happily announce that the workshop will take place fully online (talks,
posters, and more) on Oct 23–25 as scheduled.

This 3-day workshop will focus on meaningful differences in the way children
acquire language. We will explore (a) multiple sources of variation in early
language development, including: children’s linguistic and cultural
environments, their cognitive maturation, and the structural properties of the
languages they are learning, alongside (b) the implications of this variation
for the mechanisms that drive and support early language development, given
the overall robustness of learning in the face of this variability.

Keynote speakers:
Gabriella Vigliocco – University College London
Andrea Ravignani – MPI for Psycholinguistics
David Barner – University of California, San Diego

Program:

We are excited to share the final program for the upcoming Many Paths to
Language (MPaL) 2020 workshop, which is focused on meaningful variation in
child language development. The workshop will take place fully online on
October 22-23 and will be streamed on three different time zones: San
Francisco (GMT -7), Paris (GMT +1), and Singapore (GMT +8), with much of the
content available for asynchronous viewing as well.

All talks will be provided with captions and an International Sign
translation. In contrast, only captioning is available for posters. If you
would like interpretation for posters, please contact us individually at
mpal at mpi.nl.

Registration for the workshop is free, but mandatory by October 15!

To register and view the full program, please visit
https://marisacasillas.github.io/chatterlab/MPaL_handbook.html.

We are also hosting a pre-MPaL 2020 workshop that will focus on investigating
language learning across diverse cultural contexts.
