We are pleased to announce that the 51st Annual Meeting of the North East
Linguistic Society (NELS 51) will take place at the Université du Québec à
Montréal (UQAM), in Montreal, Canada, on November 6-8 2020.

The conference includes 24 main session talks, 18 flash talks in lieu of a
poster session, and two special sessions on Diverse Frameworks and on
Indigenous Languages of North America, respectively, with six talks each. Main
and special session talks will be 20 minutes with 10 minutes for questions,
and flash talks will be 5 minutes with 4 minutes for questions.

Given the COVID pandemic, the conference will take place online via Zoom
(https://zoom.us) with an overflow space available via a web link, and
informal discussions will take place via Discord (https://discord.com).

REGISTRATION:

We offer three categories for registration: registration at $50, registration
at $25, and free registration. The proceeds of the registration will go
towards financing student assistants contributing to the organization and
running of NELS.

Le colloque est composé de 24 conférences de séance principale, 18
présentations-éclairs au lieu d’une séance d’affiches, et deux séances
spéciales sur des cadres théoriques divers et sur les langues autochtones
d'Amérique du Nord avec six conférences chacune. Les séances régulières et
spéciales prendront la forme de communications de 20 minutes, suivies d'un
période de questions d'une durée de 10 minutes. Les présentations-éclairs
prendront la forme de communications de 5 minutes, suivies d’un période de
questions d’une durée de 4 minutes.  

Étant donné la situation sanitaire, le colloque aura lieu de façon virtuelle
via Zoom (https://zoom.us) avec une espace de débordement sur Youtube. NELS 51
fera usage également de l’outil Discord (https://discord.com) pour des
conversations informelles.

Trois catégories d’inscription sont disponibles : inscription au coût de 50$,
inscription au coût de 25$ et inscription gratuite. Les inscriptions payantes
servent notamment à financer l’emploi d’étudiantes et d’étudiants qui
contribuent à l’organisation du colloque.
