Meeting Description:

We welcome contributions focusing on any aspect of metaphor, metonymy and/or
other forms of figurative language and thought, including but not restricted
to the following:
 - Theoretical and methodological aspects of metaphor
 - Metaphor in cross-cultural communication
 - Metaphor and Mental Space Theory
 - Metaphor in discourse
 - Multimodal metaphor
 - Metaphor in gesture and other modes/spaces of expression
 - Metaphor and translation
 - Metaphor in learner language and education

Keynote speakers:
Jonathan Charteris-Black (University of the West of England)
Alan Cienki (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam)
Michele Feist (University of Louisiana at Lafayette)
Charles Forceville (Universiteit van Amsterdam)


Call for Papers: 

Abstracts for oral presentations, colloquia presentations and poster
presentations should be no longer than 400 words (excluding references) and
should include: 
- Title 
- Clearly articulated research question(s) and their relevance to the
conference theme 
- Essential details about research framework, data and methods
- If possible, (preliminary) results and their interpretation.

You are welcome to submit more than one contribution, but please note that you
can only be first author for one contribution. All abstracts, if accepted,
should be written/conducted in English. Please also note that while you do not
have to be a RaAM member to submit an abstract, paid-up membership of RaAM is
mandatory in order to register and present at the conference. 

You may apply for one of the following: 

1. Paper presentation 
- single or multiple authors 
- 20 minutes presentation plus 5 minutes Q & A 

2. Poster presentation 
- single or multiple authors 
- 2-minute presentation. Please note that instructions for poster presenters
will be sent out upon acceptance. 

Important deadlines:
Abstract (paper, poster) submission deadline: 18 November 2020 [extended]
Notification of acceptance: 15 January 2021

Abstracts should be submitted through EasyChair. If you have not already done
so, you will be prompted to set up an EasyChair account. Our submission link:
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=raam14. Abstracts will be reviewed
anonymously by our Scientific Committee. 

Best PhD presentation award: 
An award will be given to the best presentation by a PhD student.
Presentations will be shortlisted in the review process. Please note that only
single-authored paper presentations are eligible.
