Job Title: Junior Professorship in English Linguistics
Job Rank: Assistant Professor

Required Language(s): English (eng)

Description:

The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence in
Germany. Since 2007 it has been successful in the German Excellence Initiative
and its follow-up programme, the Excellence Strategy.

The Department of Linguistics in the Faculty of Humanities invites
applications for an untenured (6 years) Junior Professorship in English
Linguistics (f/m/d), Salary level W 1 to be filled by April 1, 2021.

We are interested in a researcher with expertise in at least one core area of
linguistics (phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics).
The candidate’s research foci should deepen and complement the department’s
existing strengths in English linguistics. The selected candidate is expected
to carry out research in English linguistics and teach courses both at the
undergraduate (B.A., B.Ed.) and graduate level (M.A., M.Ed., Ph.D.).
Cooperation with existing and planned research proposals at the department is
expected.

Recent doctoral graduates of outstanding quality may apply. We are interested
in candidates who have an excellent international publication record, as shown
for example by an outstanding dissertation, publications in established
linguistic journals, conference papers and awards, and who exhibit strong
skills in the classroom.

Recruitment is on a temporary basis as a civil servant, initially limited to 3
years, with the possibility of an extension for a further 3 years. The holder
of the position is given the opportunity to qualify as a future university
lecturer through early independent research and teaching.

The University of Konstanz is committed to ensuring an environment that
provides equal opportunities and promotes diversity as well as a good balance
between university and family life. As an equal opportunity employer, we
strive to increase the number of women working in the field advertised
(https://www.uni-konstanz.de/en/equalopportunities/equal-opportunity/).

Persons with disabilities are explicitly encouraged to apply. They will be
given preference if appropriately qualified (contact + 49 7531 88-4016).
