Description:

The University of Virginia Department of Anthropology seeks to hire an
anthropological linguist for a one-semester appointment as Lecturer
(Tenure-Ineligible). The term of the appointment runs from January 4, 2021
through May 23, 2021. Candidates must be prepared to teach courses in
structural linguistics that contribute to the interdepartmental Linguistics
M.A. program and undergraduate major in Linguistics, as well as to the
Anthropology graduate and undergraduate programs. 

The successful candidate will teach three courses in the spring semester 2021.
One is a course in historical linguistics. The other two are open, but should
cover topics in general linguistics. Candidates may propose to teach all three
courses online; however, a commitment to excellence in teaching is required
regardless of whether courses meet in person or online. The University of
