Full Title: Frontiers in Psychology

Linguistic Field(s): Discipline of Linguistics

Call Deadline: 18-May-2021

This is to bring your attention to a call for contributions to a Frontiers
research topic, titled ‘Capturing Talk: The Institutional Practices
Surrounding the Transcription of Spoken Language.’

Full details can be found at
https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/19744/capturing-talk-the-instituti
onal-practices-surrounding-the-transcription-of-spoken-language but the
central theme for the call is to build a collection of perspectives on how,
within institutional settings, ‘practitioners’ and ‘professionals’ are
eliciting and capturing spoken talk from ‘clients’ (Sarangi 1998),
transcribing that talk, and later repurposing the transcripts in place of the
original interaction.

We hope contributions might explore the often overlooked process of
transcript-creation from a variety of angles and across a range of settings,
to encourage further linguistic input into this area of professional practice.

The submission deadline for abstracts is 18th May and for manuscripts, 18th
September 2021. A major benefit of this platform is that submissions will be
published this year in 2021.

IMPORTANT: There are fees associated with publishing at Frontiers, which
produces open access online publications. Contributions for this topic can be
via Frontiers in Psychology or Frontiers in Communication (the latter with
slightly lower fees). Many universities support authors' fees for publishing
in Frontiers and other open access platforms, but if yours does not, Frontiers
are willing to discuss options for reducing or waiving fees.

More details on fees and all other aspects can be found by visiting the
webpage for the call here:

onal-practices-surrounding-the-transcription-of-spoken-language. If you have
further questions please contact any of the 6 editors (details available via
the link).
