Description:

The German Department at the University of Potsdam invites applications for a
three-year postdoctoral position (40h/week). The salary is based on the German
pay scale TV-L E13. The position is funded by the German Research Foundation
as part of the project 'Word Order and Discourse Structure in the Early Modern
Period', led by Ulrike Demske. We are looking for a highly motivated person
with a strong background in the historical syntax of a Germanic language. The
candidate is expected to conduct internationally visible research within the
research agenda of the project.

Deadline for application: May 15, 2021
Intended starting date: July 1st, 2021

Expected Qualifications:
- An excellent PhD in linguistics (degree in hand at the latest when the
position starts)
- Expertise in the morpho-syntax of a Germanic language (as documented by
peer-reviewed publications in international journals) 
- Background in discourse and information structure
- Expertise in corpus linguistics and statistical evaluation of corpus data
- Proficiency in German and English

The University of Potsdam hosts leading groups in the field of linguistics and
cognitive sciences. Linguistics is part of the University’s research focus on
cognitive science and contributes to the Collaborative Research Centre 1287 on
the 'Limits of Variability in Language'
(https://www.uni-potsdam.de/en/sfb1287/index). The Berlin/Potsdam area
represents a vibrant international research community in the domain of
linguistics.
