Description:

The Department of English at Doshisha University, located in Kyoto, has an
opening for a fulltime (tenured) professor or associate professor on
Linguistics, Applied Linguistics or related areas, beginning in April, 2022.

We seek candidates who satisfy the following qualifications:
(1) Native English speaker competence,
(2) A Ph.D. degree in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics or related areas,
(3) Teaching experience at the university level,
(4)  Being able to be a resident of the Kansai area of Japan from April 1,
2022, and
(5) Sufficient Japanese proficiency for general administrative tasks.

The qualifications in (1) to (4) are obligatory. 

Responsibilities:
-Teaching responsibilities:  Teaching a minimum of four 90-minute courses per
week on English Linguistics and English-language skill courses in the
Department of English.
-Administrative responsibilities: Involvement in curriculum design and
planning; coordination of English courses; contributions to Doshisha’s
international exchange programs; participation in designated committees;
invigilation and entrance examination duties; and publicity activities.
