The academic staff of the Hebrew Department, Faculty of Oriental Studies,
University of Warsaw invite instructors from Europe teaching Hebrew as a
foreign language to submit proposals for papers. Of special interest are
proposals relating to the conference theme - Teaching Hebrew in Europe –
Challenges and Perspectives. The aims of the conference are to bring together
the community of Hebrew teachers in Europe and invite them to discuss on the
challenges they face, such as the need of preparing attractive teaching aids
that meet modern learners’ expectations, the importance of choosing
appropriate teaching strategies, or dealing with difficulties in acquiring
Hebrew resulting from the influence of the learners’ mother tongue.

Call for Papers:

We invite Hebrew instructors from universities, colleges and language schools
in Europe to share their experiences, research and reflections on the process
of acquiring and teaching Hebrew. Being aware that the methodology and goals
of instructing Hebrew in the diaspora differ from those in Israel, we hope

teachers as well as students are facing.

 - Developing essential language skills: speaking, listening, reading and
writing
 - Methods and approaches
 - Traditional and virtual tools in the Hebrew classroom
 - Assessment and certification
 - Second Language Acquisition research applied to Hebrew
 - Acquiring Hebrew by different target groups. Students with special
educational needs
 - Methodology of teaching Biblical Hebrew
