Call for Papers:

We are writing to invite the submission of abstracts for the Fourth Symposium
on Amazonian Languages (SAL 4), to be held at UC Berkeley on the weekend of
April 2-3, 2022. We welcome talks on any topic related to Amazonian
linguistics, including, but not limited to: phonetics, phonology, morphology,
syntax, semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, historical linguistics,
linguistic anthropology, discourse analysis, and language maintenance and
revitalization.

If you are interested in participating, please submit your abstract to
sympamazlang at gmail.com by Friday, January 14. Abstracts should be maximally
500 words long, in PDF format. We will make acceptance decisions by January
21.
Those who would benefit from financial support in attending the conference
will have the opportunity to request support by Friday, January 28. More
details regarding how to request financial support will be forthcoming. In
addition, we will be able to assist with crash space for at least some
participants.

For those wondering about the potential impact of COVID on plans for SAL, it
is important to note that UC Berkeley has mandated vaccination for students,
faculty, and staff, with a vaccination rate of 96.3%. The city of Berkeley has
a vaccination rate of 91%. Of course, if an unexpected surge occurs, we will
reconsider our plans for an in-person meeting, but at this point we are
feeling optimistic about meeting in-person this Spring.

Best regards,
Allegra Robertson and Wesley dos Santos
