Spanish, Associate/Assistant Professor (AA22029)

Job Description:
Teaching courses on second language teaching methods, Spanish language and
linguistics at the graduate and undergraduate level. Responsibilities will
include but, are not limited to: teaching face to face, hybrid and online
courses in all programs in the department, supervising TAs, advising students,
develop a research agenda, and participating in departmental and University
initiatives and service.

- A typical faculty workload responsibility may include up to twenty four (24)
credits of instruction per academic year.
- The successful candidate may need to teach in other areas as assigned and
qualified.
- May be expected to develop and deliver face-to-face, hybrid, and on-line
instruction at the Mankato campus, online, and/or at the university's
additional locations, as assigned.
- The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in curriculum
design, instruction and evaluation, conduct research productively and mentor
students in research, help create innovative strategies for student
recruitment, retention, and completion, and may be expected to develop
external grant funding opportunities.
- All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly or creative activity
or research, in continuing preparation and study, in contributing to student
growth and development, and in providing service to the university and
community (See Article 22 and Appendix G of the

- Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level in the Department of
World Languages & Cultures.
- Teach Methods courses that support the BS Teaching, K-12, MAT degrees for
World Languages and Cultures.
- Serve as the liaison with K-12 programs and maintain the Educator
Preparation Program Application System information.
- Contribute to program and course development.
- Participate in the departmental activities.
- Advise undergraduate and graduate students.
- Faculty are expected to engage in research and service

Required Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Spanish, Second Language Acquisition, Hispanic Linguistics or
related field. (Conferred on an official transcript and received in Human
Resources by August 16, 2021.)
- Must have at least one academic year of prekindergarten through grade 12
teaching experience in language teaching within the scope of the license.
