Meeting Description:

The Canadian Association for the Advancement of Netherlandic Studies is the
academic ‘home’ of Canadian (and other) scholars, from a myriad of
disciplines, whose research focuses on some aspect of Netherlandic Studies, be
it linguistic, literary, diasporic, post-colonial, etc. This year, our annual
conference will take place fully online, for the very first time in the
history of our association, in partnership with the Canadian Federation for
the Humanities and Social Sciences and the University of Alberta.

Our keynote speaker this year is Dr. Frieda Steurs (KU Leuven and INT Leiden),
founder and former president of NL-TERM, the Dutch terminology association for
both the Netherlands and Flanders, the head of research of the INT, the Dutch
Language Institute in Leiden, and the Secretary-General of CIPL, the Permanent
International Committee of Linguists. Dr. Steurs’ keynote lecture, Language is
Business! On the impact of linguistic applications in our society, will focus
on the economic value of language and examine the language sector in the Dutch
speaking world.

Call for Papers:

We invite proposals for papers addressing the main theme of this year’s
virtual gathering: Dutch as a source and target language in translation.

We also invite proposals for papers addressing any other topic related to
Netherlandic studies, including but not limited to: the language, literature,
and culture of the Dutch speaking world.

Presentations will be 20 minutes plus 10 minutes for questions and discussion
and may be delivered in English, French, or Dutch.
