Meeting Description:

Change is an ever-present theme in the context of youth language. There are
on-going changes in forms of communication and mobility between physical,
geographical, virtual and online spaces. Youth linguistic practices are widely
recognised as a vehicle and catalyst for language change. The conference aims
to explore the boundaries of change and looks at the involvement of young
people in current political and social movements who are 'bringing about
change' through a range of linguistic and communicative means. The conference
particularly welcomes presentations which embrace changes and developments in
research approaches that increasingly encourage the agency of young people as
co-researchers.

Confirmed keynote speakers include:
 - Ellen Hurst (University of Cape Town)
 - Christian Ilbury (University of Suffolk)
 - Kate Pahl (Manchester Metropolitan University)
