Your tasks:
As a prospective postholder you will represent the field "General and Applied
Linguistics" in research and teaching and your research foci are in at least
two of the following areas: Linguistic Pragmatics, Discourse Analysis and Text
Linguistics. Additional qualifications in the areas of grammar theory,
psycholinguistics, and digital humanities are desired. You are willing to
contribute to teaching in our BA Linguistics, MA Linguistics, and PhD
Linguistics and Media Studies curricula and supervise theses in all these
areas. In addition, you are willing to contribute to the focus system of the
faculty and the university, in particular to the Digital Humanities Research
Center and the Digital Science Center (DISC). It is a matter of course for all
our employees to actively participate in the university's administration. You
either have excellent command of German (minimum C1) or excellent command of
English (minimum C1) paired with intermediate proficiency in German (minimum
B1) and the willingness to improve to B2 stage within two years.

Our team at the Department of Linguistics in Innsbruck is studying a range of
languages both in the fields of General and Applied Linguistics and
Indo-Germanic Studies. Our activities in teaching and research include the
following main areas: Feminist Linguistics - Gender Linguistics, Digital and
Corpus Linguistics, Lexicology and Language Comparison, Onomastics and Digital
Applications (GIS), Rhetoric and Argumentation, Language, Ideology and
Propaganda, Structural Semantics, Metaphor Theory and Healthcare
Communication. Furthermore, there is a focus on historical linguistics and
Indo-Germanic studies.
