Meeting Description:

The 1st online International Conference of the Language and the Pandemic will
be held from March 22 to 23, 2021, in the Department of English, Faculty of
Education, University of Kufa, Iraq. 

This conference brings together researchers, academics and practitioners from
a wide variety of fields to exchange and share their exploration, ideas and
findings on the ways the pandemic has impacted language or how it has been
talked about. Submissions will be peer-reviewed and evaluated based on
originality, relevance to conference, contributions, and presentation.


Call for Papers:

Theme A : (Applied) linguistics in the pandemic
 - Corpus linguistics studies on the pandemic
 - Language communication/ interaction during covid-19 
 - Second language acquisition,
 - Semantic, pragmatic and stylistic  studies on the pandemic
 - Translation studies on pandemic 
 - Challenges and solutions in language teaching and learning during pandemic
 - Language of the news
 - How does e-learning reshape both of teacher agency and learner agency? 

Theme  B: Discourses on the pandemic
 - How do different discourses in the media construct meaning on and around
covid-19?
 - Political discourse in the time of Covid-19
 - Inclusion and exclusion in the discourse on Covid-19
 - How politicians communicate their crisis management
 - Studies on interaction in times of pandemic (email, face to face etc.) 
 - Covid-19 signs (public signs that have emerged during the Covid-19
pandemic)
 - Pandemic and conspiracy theory
 - Covid-19 misinformation
 - How is the pandemic described, problematized and talked about?

 - Contagious diseases in history of English literature
