Description:

We are looking for candidates interested in pursuing a rewarding research and
academic career at the University of Nova Gorica. We offer a dynamic research
environment supported by state-of-the-art research equipment and a pronounced
international orientation.

The work will be conducted in the Center for Center for Cognitive Science of
Language. The successful candidate will be tasked with developing and running
eye-tracking and ERP experiments that are broadly related to the projects
currently running within our center (assessment of sentence comprehension
ability in adults; linguistic transfer in the pragmatic domain; real time
processing of numeral-based noun phrases; the interplay between prosody,
morphology and semantics in the verbal domain; agreement mismatches;
word-structure processing). The candidate may be asked to take over some
outreach duties and moderate teaching obligations in the university’s
linguistics programs.

The successful candidate will be employed on a full-time basis for a fixed
term of one year (pending sufficient funding, there may be a possibility to
renew for a second year). The expected start date is September 1, 2021.

If the candidate holds a valid title of assistant professor and they submit
evidence of this, employment at the rank of assistant professor will be
considered.

To be considered for the position, candidates should have:
- A PhD in experimental linguistics, psycholinguistics or neurolinguistics,
- Ability to work independently, as well as to work in a team taking on an
active role in organizing and conducting linguistic experiments, in particular
eye-tracking and ERP experiments, and in recruiting child and adult
participants,
- Experience in using EEG/ERP and eye-tracking,
- A strong background in theoretically-grounded experimental linguistics,
neurolinguistics, psycholinguistics or cognitive science,
- A fluent command of English.

Advantages:
- Proven research experience or an active research agenda that concerns the
relevant linguistics domains,
- A strong publication record,
- Knowledge of up-to-date statistical methods of data analysis.
