Description:

The School of Languages and Cultures at the University of Queensland is
looking to appoint two Industry Fellows (Indigenous Languages) to promote
respectful awareness of, engagement with, and strategic, mutually beneficial
inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities,
relevant Indigenous organisations and wider industry partners in UQ’s teaching
programs, research and innovation through contributing to: (1) the development
of a teaching program in Indigenous languages to be offered by the School of
Languages and Cultures; and (2) the establishment of the Language Data Commons
of Australia (LDaCA), which is to form part of national research
infrastructure for language researchers and communities.

We are seeking candidates with industry experience relating to Indigenous
languages in any of the following fields: museums, libraries and archives;
language teaching and learning; adult education; performing arts; visual arts,
land management; or other relevant fields. 

The successful candidates will also demonstrate the following:
Successful Level A candidates will demonstrate:
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander communities and organisations.
- Demonstrated skills in community liaison and consultation.
- Experience with leading, participating in or contributing to Indigenous
language projects.
- Demonstrated capacity to work with a range of Indigenous communities.

In addition to the essentials for Level A above, Level B candidates must have
the following:
- A postgraduate qualification in Indigenous languages or a related field.
- Demonstrated evidence of a record of publication in high-quality outlets in
the field or industry-relevant outlets.
