Subject: Update on Names for the @ Sign in Your Language

 
LINGUIST old-timers may remember the 1996 survey on words for the @ sign in
different languages. The summaries are available here:

The survey is now due for an update. In some languages, for example, English
“at” is tending to squeeze out an earlier “cuter” name for the @ sign, such as
‘elephant trunk’, ‘rolled herring’, or ‘crazy A’. We’d like to see just how
much has changed – and how much has stayed the same – 25 years later.

Is your native language something *other than* English? Then we could really
use your help in updating the @ sign survey! It should take no more than 5
minutes to complete. The survey link:
