Description:

The Institute of Slavic Studies at the School of Linguistics and Cultural
Studies (School III) invites applications for the position of Professorship
(salary scale W2) of Slavic Linguistics (m/f/x) (start date October 1st, 2022
as soon as possible).

Candidates must:
- Hold an outstanding doctoral degree in the field of Slavic linguistics with
a particular focus on Russian or Polish
- Hold a post-doctoral degree (habilitation or equivalent) in the field of
Slavic linguistics with a particular focus on Russian or Polish
- Focus on at least one of the areas of contact linguistics and language
acquisition in their research, with a clearly recognisable region-based
approach, as evidenced by publications
- Be familiar with relevant linguistic theories as well as relevant contact,
socio- and/or psycholinguistic methods, as evidenced by publications
- Be willing and able to actively participate in shaping the Institutes
region-based research focus (in addition to Russian and Polish, this also
includes Belarusian and Ukrainian), as evidenced by a research plan (max.
three pages)
- Be able to teach the broad subject of Slavic linguistics, as evidenced by
relevant courses taught
- Have near-native German language skills (at least C1)
- Have experience in acquiring third-party funding as well as in international
cooperation.

Experience in interdisciplinary cooperation is desired.

We are looking for an individual who develops and pursues research projects
that are compatible with the School's current linguistic research areas of
(Language Contact / Language acquisition and processing (and thus, with the
prospective field of linguistic hearing research), and that will strengthen
the Institute of Slavic Studies' region-based research and teaching profile.
The candidate will also coordinate linguistic courses at the Institute and
teach linguistic courses in all degree programmes run by the Institute or in
which the Institute is involved. Moreover, the candidate will be expected to
participate in existing national and international collaborations, especially
the continuation and further development of the Institute's partnerships with
universities in Russia, Poland, Belarus and Ukraine, for the benefit of
research and teaching. Finally, active participation in academic
self-governance is expected.

The requirements for appointment are in accordance with section 25 of the
Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG). To increase the number of women
professors, female applicants will be given preference if equally qualified.
Candidates with disabilities will be given preference where qualifications are
equivalent. The position may be filled on a part-time basis if necessary.
