Meeting Description:

We are very excited to be back to announce the new dates for the 3rd
International Symposium on Applied Phonetics, which will be held at
Universitat Rovira i Virgili, in Tarragona, Spain, September 6-8, 2021.

After the cancellation of the 2020 meeting due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and
given the lingering uncertainly about the possibility of unrestricted travel
in the coming months, ISAPh 2021 will be held fully in online mode. Details on
the exact procedures will be provided shortly.

ISAPh 2021 proudly follows up on the two previous meetings held in Nagoya
(2016) and Aizuwakamatsu (2018), where a large number of researchers gathered
to discuss a variety of aspects within the field of applied phonetics. Our
mission is to continue to offer a specialized forum for the discussion of all
areas of phonetic research with an applied component. While the main focus of
the symposium continues to be how phonetic knowledge can guide the teaching
and learning of foreign languages, we welcome contributions from other areas
of applied phonetics such as sociophonetics, speech technology and pathology,
language and accent coaching, forensic phonetics, etc.

Invited Speakers:
Jane Stuart-Smith (University of Glasgow)
Joan Carles Mora (Universitat de Barcelona)
Charlie Nagle (Iowa State University)
Josefina Carrera (Universitat de Barcelona)

In addition to the invited presentations, the following workshops, included in
the registration, will take place on September 8:
 - Douglas N. Honorof (Verberations / Haskins Laboratories): Repackaging
phonetics for film and television actors on the fly
 - Leticia Quesada (Rovira i Virgili University): Tools and techniques to
teach phonetic transcription online
