QThe University of Klagenfurt is pleased to announce the following open
position at the Digital Age Research Center (D!ARC) with an expected starting
date of 1 May 2021:

PostDoc-Assistant (f/m/d), non-tenure track

The Digital Age Research Center (D!ARC), founded in 2019 as an inter-faculty
university centre, aims to shed light not only on the technological but also
on the economic, legal, social, individual, behavioural and cultural aspects
of the digital revolution. Over the next few years, it is set to develop a
corresponding profile in research with a European claim to excellence as well
as modules for the range of courses offered at the University of Klagenfurt.

Level of employment: 100 %
Minimum salary: € 55,242.60 per annum (gross); Classification according to
collective agreement: B1 lit.b
Limited to: 6 years

Tasks and responsibilities:
- Building an infrastructure for extracting and structuring biographical data
from the web
- Contributing to research in D!ARC in the area on computational linguistics
and digital humanities
- Teaching courses on computational linguistic topics

Prerequistites for the appointment:
- A PhD degree in the field of computational linguistics, computer science or
alike, graded with excellent success and corresponding knowledge in the field
- Good programming skills (preferably Python and Java)
- Proven expertise in:
- Web crawling and processing large amounts of textual data
- Social media analysis
- Natural language processing
- Machine learning (particularly deep learning)
- Information extraction
- Publications at scientific conferences and in journals in the field relating
to the position
- Fluent in German and English, both spoken and written

Additional desired qualifications:
- Scientific publications at highly ranked conferences/in highly ranked
journals
- Profound knowledge of publicly available NLP tools and resources
- Experience in teaching at a university
- Experience in working in interdisciplinary research projects
- Experience in the writing of scientific project proposals
- Experience in supervising students
- Social and communication skills, ability to work independently

Our offer:
The employment contract is concluded for the position as a post-doctoral
researcher and stipulates a starting salary of € 3,945.90 gross per month (14
times a year; previous experience deemed relevant to the job can be
recognised.)
