Lisbon Summer School in Linguistics 2021

Description:
Organized by Linguistics Research Centre of NOVA University Lisbon (CLUNL),
with the support of ELEXIS, the 8th edition of Lisbon Summer School in
Linguistics will be held at School of Social Sciences and Humanities of NOVA
University Lisbon between 5-9 of July 2021.

PhD students are the main target audience, but the courses are not restricted
to them and are open to a professional audience that wants to keep up to date.

9 courses are offered, 3 per area:
Area 1: Formal and Experimental Linguistics: 
Course 1: Crosslinguistic influence in bilingualism – Tanja Kupisch –
University of Konstanz; 
Course 2: A State-of-the Art Outlook on the Role of Syntactic Awareness in
Language Processing – Daphnée Simard – Université du Québec à Montréal; 
Course 3: Accounting for syntactic variation in Portuguese – Alexandra Fiéis,
Maria Lobo, Ana Madeira, Joana Teixeira – CLUNL, NOVA FCSH; 

Area 2: Terminology and Lexicography: 
Course 1: The past, present and future, of African language dictionaries –
from Eurocentric to Afrocentric compilations – D.J. Prinsloo – Faculty of
Humanities, University of Pretoria, South Africa; 
Course 2: Linguistic Digital Data in Terminology and Lexicography – Raquel
Amaro / Rute Costa – CLUNL, NOVA FCSH; 
Course 3: Introduction to Linked Open Data in Linguistics – Thierry Declerck –
German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) | Austrian Centre
for Digital Humanities at the Austrian Academy of Sciences / Julia Bosque-Gil,
University of Zaragoza; 

Area 3: Grammar & Text (PDF): 
Course 1: Modality and related puzzles – Jan Nuyts – University of de Antwerp;
Course 2: Os primórdios do (galego-)português escrito. A língua como
instrumento de comunicação e cultura (sécs. XII-XIV) – José António Souto Cabo
– Universidade de Santiago de Compostela; 
Course 3: Tempos & textos / Tenses and texts – Maria Teresa Brocardo / Clara

Tuition: 90 EURO

Tuition Explanation: Registration in a single course: 90€
    Registration in 2 courses: 120€
    Registration in 3 courses: 150€

PhD Students enrolled in Doctoral Programs in Linguistics, Translation and
Terminology, or Languages Teaching – Multilingualism and Education for a
Global Citizenship at NOVA FCSH: FREE
PhD Students enrolled in any other Doctoral Program at Universidade NOVA de
Lisboa: 1st course. FREE; other courses: 50€ each
