Meeting Description:

Eötvös Loránd University is launching an international conference series with
sessions both in English and Hungarian. Our first conference will be held in
November 2021.

For the purpose of our conference, we would like to take the meaning of
applied linguistics in its broadest sense, and our aim is to present research
analysing linguistic/communication/social problems of language use and to
offer real solutions via linguistic means from an interdisciplinary
perspective. We are inviting scientific papers to be presented at our
conference on the theme of socially responsible linguistics. The conference
prioritizes less widely known topics of applied linguistics and the research
of still unknown (or not widely known) linguistic dilemmas; moreover, it calls
for innovative analyses of known problems and the elaboration of solutions.
Besides our teacher-researcher colleagues, we are also encouraging
applications from PhD students. We are planning to organise thematic sections
and workshops/roundtables; moreover, would also like to publish an on-line
peer-reviewed collection of papers (with ISBN number).

Our invited keynote speakers are: István Csernicskó, rector, Ferenc Rakoczi II
Transcarpathian Hungarian College of Higher Education; Judit Kormos,
professor, Lancaster University; Sára Ránki, forensic linguist; Outi
Tuomainen, professor, University of Potsdam.

Organisers: the Department of Applied Linguistics and Phonetics, the Doctoral
School Intercultural Linguistics, and the Doctoral School of Applied
Linguistics of Eötvös Loránd University, Faculty of Humanities, and the
Society of Hungarian Linguistics

Call for Papers:

Possible conference themes include: researching communication (manipulative
language use, doctor-patient and teacher-student communication, communication
in emergency situations, etc.), forensic linguistics, economics, healthcare,
commerce, diplomacy, tourism, sports, education, language rights, informatics,

A person can apply to be the presenting author for a maximum of two papers: as
a first author and as a co-author of a paper. The first author of each paper
must register for the conference and pay the participation fee.

We are organizing both parallel sessions and poster sessions.

We are asking participants to submit an abstract of maximum 200 words that
addresses the analysis of a concrete problem and the suggested solution.
Please follow the attached sample.

The abstracts can be submitted through the EasyChair submission system until

please visit the conference webpage.
