Description:

The Department of Teacher Education at NTNU is announcing one permanent
full-time position (tenure track) as Associate Professor in English applied
linguistics/TESOL.

Duties of the position:
- Teach English language and applied linguistics within different study
programmes
- Assist in further developing the subject area and teaching programme,
including continuing education and in-service courses
- Supervise master students, doctoral candidates, and research fellows in
his/her discipline, as well as supervise students during their practicum
- Research within his/her professional field and contribute to relevant
research groups
- Initiate new research projects and contribute to applications for funding
- Develop and build research networks
- Work on administrative tasks
- Administrate the courses and subject area with the other academic staff

Required selection criteria:
The position requires that you meet the criteria in the Norwegian regulations
concerning appointment and promotion to teaching and research posts section: 
- A PhD in second language acquisition, English language, applied linguistics,
or TESOL is
required. Applicants who can document that they are in the final stages of
their PhD will be considered for the position.
- Teaching experience from teacher education or other relevant institutions of
education is required.

Preferred selection criteria:
- Research in additional language acquisition for young learners,
multilingualism, and multilingual literacy will be emphasized in the
evaluation.
- Research relevant to schools and/or teacher education will be emphasized in
the evaluation.
- Applicants with documented ability to publish in recognized international
academic journals within their subject area will be prioritized. Research from
the past five years excluding any statutory leave of absence will be given
particular weight.
- The ability to initiate and lead research and development will also be
emphasized.
- Pedagogical skills and qualifications will be emphasized. Assessment will be
based on documented teaching material, the form and quality of the scientific
work, teaching experience, supervision of master and doctoral students, trial
lecture, and interview.
- A Post-graduate Certificate of Education, Certificate of Teaching and
Learning in Higher Education or equivalent is desired.
- Teaching experience from the Norwegian school system is desired.
- Experience using ICT in an educational context is desired.

Salary and conditions:
As Associate Professor you will normally be remunerated from gross NOK 600,000
– NOK 705,000 per year, depending on qualifications and seniority. From the
salary, 2% is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian Public Service
Pension Fund.
