Description:

At the University of Greifswald’s Department of British and North American
Studies in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, there is a job vacancy expected
to be available from 01/09/2021, subject to budgetary regulations, for a
part-time (50 %) Research and Teaching Assistant.

The position on offer is permanent. Payment will be made according to pay
group 13 TV-L Wissenschaft.

Job description:
The successful candidate will perform teaching services at the Department of
British and North American Studies (teaching obligation of 7 classes (à 45
min. as defined in LVVO M-V) per week in every semester). The candidate will
teach classes which combine the fields of English Language Practice and
Applied English Linguistics, primarily for the degree course in primary
education.

The successful candidate is expected to participate in establishing and
implementing the new degree course for primary school teachers, to contribute
to the planning, administering, and execution of examinations, and to engage
in the development of interdisciplinary modules and practice-oriented classes
in cooperation with the Department’s Teaching of English section.

In addition, the successful candidate will be involved in administrative
tasks, including teacher education committees, and will have the opportunity
to participate in research activities at the Chair of English Linguistics.

Job requirements:
Required:
- Degree in English Studies or Applied Linguistics (average grade: 2,5 or
above, German grading scale)
- Documented teaching experience in the tertiary education (preferably
experience in university teaching) in the areas of English Language Practice,
TESOL, or Applied Linguistics
- Highly developed contrastive language awareness and skills in English and
German in theory (phonetics/phonology, syntax) and practice (translation)
- Excellent knowledge of English (L1 or L1 equivalent)
- Very good knowledge of German (B2 or above)

Preferred:
- Teacher training degree, experience as a school teacher, or similar
documented teaching experience in the primary sector
- TESOL or TEFL qualification
- Research experience, interest in contributing toward research projects
and/or obtaining additional academic qualifications

The position is open to all persons, irrespective of gender. The University
