Description:

The School of Arts and Sciences at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey
– New Brunswick invites applications for a one-year post-doctoral associate
position affiliated with The Language Center’s Language Engagement Project
Initiative and supervised through the Department of Linguistics.

The Post-Doctoral Associate will work closely with and be mentored by Prof.
Kristen Syrett in Linguistics. The focus of the position will be on language
and social justice, in connection with the initiatives of the Language
Engagement Project.

We invite applicants in the areas of Sociolinguistics, Applied Linguistics, or
a related area with an established and/or promising track record of
publication and presentation in top venues, community outreach and/or
engagement, and a commitment to promoting the connection between language,
linguistics, social justice, and diversity.

Duties will include teaching and administrative duties related to programmatic
initiatives connecting language and social justice. The teaching load is 1:1,
including one course in Linguistics at the Undergraduate level, and one
Interdisciplinary course at either the Undergraduate or Graduate level.

The candidate must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. with a
dissertation specializing in Linguistics or a related field by August 1, 2021.
