Description:
The summer school "Forensic Linguistics Short Course" addresses subjects within the broadly defined discipline of forensic linguistics. We work with authentic data and use real cases to illustrate theory. We wish for a high degree of participant involvement and encourage critical inquiry and debate.

The 3rd FLsc will be an online event (even though the 'location' section says otherwise) due to the ongoing world-wide health crisis. Nonetheless, we are confident that the 3rd FLsc will be a success as our lecturers are experienced in delivering hands-on online courses. We plan social events and will provide an online-platform for socializing before, during and after the FLsc.

Our lecturers are well-known members of the Forensic Linguistics community:
- Dr Ria Perkins graduated from Aston University's Master's programme in Applied Linguistics with Forensic Linguistics. Her PhD focused on native language identification in online Persian-English texts from 'weblogistan' and her current research is centered around linguistic issues in online radicalisation.
- Dr Isabel Picornell is a fraud examiner working from the Channel Islands. Her research examined linguistic cues to deception in written witness statements and devised a method for identifying deceptive linguistic strategies.

Linguistic Field(s): Forensic Linguistics

Tuition: 330 EURO

Tuition Explanation: The FLsc fee covers the online tools we will use during the summer school, the
