Description:

The English Department at Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena invites
applications for a PhD position in the area of English Linguistics
(remuneration according to the German public pay scale TV-L E13, 50%). The
position is initially restricted to three years, but renewable (Reg.-Nr.
438/2021).

The candidate must have an MA in English Linguistics or an equivalent degree
(i.e. in General Linguistics; Psycholinguistics). The position involves work
towards a PhD in English Linguistics, participation in the department’s
research activities, and a teaching load of one class per semester. The
language of instruction is English (knowledge of German is not a
prerequisite).

The candidate should have some experience in using methods of corpus
linguistics and/or psycholinguistics and a background in the usage-based
approach (for more information on the department’s research see:

Ideally, the position is to be filled by April 1, 2022. Candidates are
requested to send their application (CV, motivation letter indicating research
