Description:

We are seeking candidates to join a diverse and interdisciplinary team of
machine learning researchers, software engineers, linguists, and data
scientists to develop products powered by machine learning and natural
language processing.

Our ideal candidate will be passionate about applying their linguistic
expertise to solve interesting problems. This position is a full-time
contractor role based in our office in Mountain View, CA. Team members enjoy
flexible scheduling, a supportive work environment, a collaborative
environment allowing for ownership and growth, as well as opportunity remote
work. 

Responsibilities of this role: 
 - Apply NLP to improve multilingual products for better search and language
understanding
 - Capture requirements, create guidelines and golden data sets to run
crowd-sourced linguistic jobs
 - Generate rule/grammar-based linguistic training data to quickly scale human
effort
 - Annotate linguistic data in rapid iterations to train and tweak model
features
 - Provide linguistic insight to help create a knowledge base and develop
taxonomies 
 - Create documentation and guidelines for standard procedures of internal
processes
 - Research new methodologies for process and product improvement

Required Qualifications: 
 - Degree in Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Philosophy, Mathematics
or equivalent experience
 - Ability to breakdown complex linguistic data requirements into concise,
clear instructions
 - Strong problem solving, conceptual thinking, and communication skills
 - Comfort working in a rapidly changing environment under tight deadlines

Preferred Qualifications: 
 - Knowledge of Python, regular expressions, machine learning, tools for
natural language processing
 - Knowledge of foreign languages, especially French, Spanish, Dutch,
Portuguese or Hindi
 - Experience with crowdsourcing platforms such as Appen, Amazon Mechanical
Turk
