Description:

The Faculty of Languages, Cultures, and Arts (FB 09) of the Johann Wolfgang
Goethe University Frankfurt am Main invites applications for the following
position as civil servant or public employee starting at the earliest possible
date: Professorship (W3) for Comparative Linguistics

The professorship represents Comparative Linguistics with both its historical
and typological dimensions in teaching and research at the Institute of
Empirical Linguistics. Intensive collaboration with other linguistic
disciplines, in particular Phonetics and Language Documentation, as well as
experiences in research on non-European languages are required. Further focus
areas of the professorship in the areas of Corpus and Computational
Linguistics as well as Digital Humanities are desirable. 

As their academic director, the professorship is responsible for the studies
programs (Bachelor and Master) in "Empirical Linguistics". Within these
programs, the professorship coordinates the general compulsory courses as well
as those in General Comparative and Indo-European Linguistics, but also those
of Caucasian and Baltic Linguistics. An above-average doctorate in a
linguistic discipline and further academic achievements are required.
Experience in acquiring third-party funding and willingness to participate in
interdisciplinary national and international research initiatives are also
expected. The designated salary for the position is based on the German
university pay scale or equivalent.
