Meeting Description:

„Iorgu Iordan–Alexandru Rosetti” Institute of Linguistics of the Romanian
Academy, Bucharest, Romania is delighted to invite to take part in the 10th
Congress of the International Society for Dialectology and Geolinguistics
(SIDG) which will be held in Bucharest, Romania, March 24–28, 2022, together
with the 54th ANNUAL MEETING of the ATLAS LINGUARUM EUROPAE (ALE) (March
25–27, 2022).

The first Congress of the International Society for Dialectology and
Geolinguistics was initiated by the International Society for Dialectology and
Geolinguistics (SIDG, http://www.geo-linguistics.org/) in 1993 in Budapest
(Hungary). Until now, every three years congresses are organized in different
countries-members of the SIDG: in 1997 it was held in Amsterdam (Netherlands),
in 2000 – in Lublin (Poland), in 2003 – in Riga (Latvia), in 2006 – in Braga
(Portugal), in 2009 – in Maribor (Slovenia), in 2012 – in Vienna (Austria),
and in 2015 – in Famagusta (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus). The purpose
of these congresses is to promote international cooperation between scientific
institutions and researchers, enabling scientists from different countries to
share their experience, to present dialectology and geolinguistic studies
based on traditional and new methods, and discuss relevant topics in
dialectology and geolinguistics.


2nd Call for Papers:

We would like to inform you that we have rescheduled the date of the congress
due to the international health situation.

The main topics of the congress will cover all aspects of dialectology and
geolinguistics:

- Geolinguistics. New methodological and conceptual approaches
- Dialectology. Concepts and research methods
- Dialectology and the language structure (phonetics, morpho-syntax, lexic)
- Dialect Sources: Texts, dictionaries, atlases, corpora
- Interdisciplinary dialectology (language history, onomastics, ethnography)
- Dialect contact, dialectology and sociolinguistics
- Dialectology and pragmatics
- Perceptual dialectology
- Cognitive dialectology
- Interlingual dialectology: Multilingual and multicultural variability
- Dialectometry
- Dialectology in the digitalization age
