Description:

The Hispanic Linguistics track in Spanish and Portuguese Studies at the
University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications to the Ph.D. program
for students starting their studies in the Fall Semester 2022.

Our PhD program in Hispanic Linguistics allows students to focus on applied
linguistics, indigenous languages of Latin America, language acquisition,
phonetics and phonology, formal semantics and pragmatics, sociolinguistics and
dialectology, syntax, and translation. Please visit

Doctoral students receive four years of funding support, if they hold an M.A.
at the time when they enter the program, and five years if they enter the
program without an M.A. Extensions are available depending upon availability.
Doctoral students receive a full tuition waiver and a stipend while they work
as Teaching Associates, teaching one course per semester in Spanish. More
