Description:

The Program in Indo-European Studies and the Department of Near Eastern
Languages and Cultures at the University of California, Los Angeles, have been
authorized to make an appointment to a full-time position in Ancient Anatolian
languages and cultures, at open rank (Assistant (tenure-track), Associate/Full
Professor (with tenure)), effective July 1, 2022. We invite applications from
scholars with philological and linguistic expertise in Ancient (Indo-European)
Anatolian languages, principally Hittite, Luvian, and Lycian; expertise in
other Ancient Anatolian languages would also be welcome. In addition to

of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures, and potentially other UCLA academic

Religion); such areas include (but are not limited to) mythology, poetics,
religion, and social or political history.

Ph.D. is required before the date of appointment. Candidates should have an
outstanding record in research and teaching; entry-level candidates (for
hiring at the rank of Assistant Professor) should show great potential for
outstanding research and teaching. Candidates should also demonstrate a
commitment to student mentoring/advising and to teaching at both the
undergraduate and graduate levels. We welcome candidates whose experience in
teaching, research, or community service has prepared them to contribute to
our commitment to diversity and excellence.

Applicants should submit the materials listed below via the application link

review applications:
 - Letter of application, including a detailed research statement
 - Names and contact information for three recommenders

 - A representative article-length publication or dissertation chapter (or
excerpted chapter) of similar length
 - Statement on past, present, and future (planned) contributions to equity,
diversity, and inclusion

The Search Committee intends to begin meeting selected candidates remotely in
December. In a second stage of the search, the committee will request letters
of reference and additional materials, such as further samples of scholarly
work and sample course syllabi.
