Description:

The Department of Linguistics and Cognitive Science in the College of Arts and
Sciences invites applications for an Assistant Professor position, tenure
track, in Neurolinguistics and/or Psycholinguistics. The position is expected
to begin on August 16, 2022. Applicants for this position should have a Ph.D.
in linguistics, cognitive science, psychology or a related field. The Ph.D.
must be in hand prior to the start of the appointment. We seek individuals who
demonstrate the drive and vision to develop an innovative, cutting edge and
internationally recognized research program in neurolinguistics or
psycholinguistics with focus on areas including but not limited to:
 - sentence processing,
 - speech perception/production,
 - language development and language disorders.

The successful candidate is expected to teach a subset of the following
courses:
 - Introduction to Cognitive Science,
 - Psycholinguistics,
 - Language Development,
 - Topics in Cognitive Science, and
 - Experimental Linguistics.

They will also be expected to offer graduate seminars in areas of their
specialization. Other duties include supervision of graduate students,
undergraduate advising, involvement in curricular development and performance
of University and Department service. The department has state-of-the-art
laboratories in phonetics, phonology, syntax and psycholinguistics and will
provide an additional facility to support the new faculty’s research. Research
can also be conducted at the Center for Biomedical and Brain Imaging
(https://cbbi.udel.edu). This 11,600 square foot research facility houses a
Siemens 3T Magnetom Prisma scanner, and the suite is equipped with
state-of-the-art MR-compatible visual and auditory stimulation equipment,
eye-tracking, response devices, and physiological measurement hardware.

The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in linguistics, cognitive
science, psychology or a related field, have a strong research program in
neurolinguistics or psycholinguistics, and demonstrate a commitment to
excellence in teaching. Candidates must be able to teach undergraduate and
graduate courses in cognitive science, neurolinguistics and psycholinguistics.

The Department of Linguistics and Cognitive Science is within the College Arts
and Sciences. The department runs a Ph.D. program in Linguistics, a Master’s
degree in Linguistics and Cognitive Science, a Bachelor of Science in
Cognitive Science, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics.
