Meeting Description:

The International Symposium of the American Pragmatics Association (AMPRA), to
be held November 12-13, 2021 online at the Universidad de Belgrano, Buenos
Aires, Argentina. The primary goal of this symposium is to promote both
theoretical and applied research in pragmatics in Central and South America,
and to bring together scholars who are interested in different subfields of
pragmatics. The four main topical strands of the symposium are: (i) Pragmatic
theories; (ii) Experimental pragmatics; (iii) Intercultural, cross-cultural
and social pragmatics; (iv) Applied pragmatics. We encourage researchers
especially from Central and South America to submit their abstracts. Scholars
from other parts of the world are also welcome to submit, if their research is
focused on social groups and /or uses data collected in Latin America.

Confirmed Keynote Speakers:
Isolda Carranza, Universidad de Córdoba, Argentina
María Elena Placencia, University of London, England

Second Call for Papers:

We are looking for abstracts for two types of presentation:

1. Full Presentations: presenting the results of a completed research project.
Accepted papers will get 30 minutes for presentation, including discussion
time.
2. Short Presentations: presenting work-in progress. Accepted papers will get
20 minutes for presentation, including discussion time.

In both cases, abstracts should present research that adopts a strictly
pragmatic theoretical and methodological approach.

Abstracts must be 150-200 words max. in length. Submissions are limited to one
individual or one joint presentation. When submitting your abstract, please
specify your preference of format as well as the strand (i, ii, iii, iv) you
would preferably like to be considered for.

Abstracts must be submitted through EasyAbstracts
(http://linguistlist.org/easyabs/ampra2021).

Abstract submission portal opens: August 1, 2021.
Deadline for submission: September 20, 2021
Notification of Acceptance: October 1, 2021

Because of the nature of the symposium, the number of presentations will be
limited.
