Call for Papers: Languages at War in Africa

(Extended deadline!)

We are happy to announce that for a volume in the Palgrave series Languages at
War we are looking forward to contributions from scholars and researchers in
the field of African studies worldwide.

The focus is on - but not limited to - various research topics within the
field of languages at war in Africa, such as:

- Linguistic identity and belonging in conflict
- (Mis-)Communication in conflict
- Representation and interpretation of conflict
- Conflict about language(s)
- Language conflict in multilingual settings
- Language policies vs. linguistic realities
- Language at wartime (international war, civil war, occupation, etc.)
- etc.

Papers should point to a theoretical framework and methodology used in the
research. They should have a length of approximately 7500-8000 words and be
submitted in English language.

For more information on the series please refer to:
https://www.palgrave.com/gp/series/14615.

We cordially invite you to submit an abstract of your proposed contribution
including bibliographical references. Abstracts should not exceed 750 words
(excluding references and title). Please send your abstract to Deborah
Wockelmann (wockelmann at uni-mainz.de) and Maren Rüsch (m.ruesch at uni-koeln.de).

The extended submission deadline for the abstracts is September 30, 2021. We
will inform you about the acceptance of contributions for the volume in
November of this year.

Kind regards!
Deborah and Maren
