Start date of this position:  August 1, 2023
Required Degree:  A Ph.D. in linguistics or a related field. Required degree
must be completed by the start date.

Experience:   
The Department offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs:  MA,
BA, and minor in Linguistics; a BA in Applied English Linguistics ; an MA and
minor in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL); a BA and
minor in Editing and Publishing; and a minor in Linguistic Computing. A
candidate is sought who can contribute to the linguistics program broadly.
Although expertise in areas such as morphology, semantics, pragmatics, and/or
discourse analysis is desirable, compelling applicants with other
specializations are urged to apply. The ability to teach courses in other
specialities (e.g., TESOL, Editing and Publishing, Linguistic Computing)
within the department is highly desirable.

Duties/Expectations: 
Primary responsibilities under a 10-month contract include teaching, research,
citizenship, and mentoring. Teaching load is 6 courses per year with some
flexibility for exceptional scholarly productivity. A successful candidate
will be expected to live in (e.g., move to) Utah and teach in-person classes.
Candidates should have a strong potential for or evidence of a research agenda
and be able to publish independently and with colleagues in their respective
fields. Citizenship duties may involve contributing to the program and
department vision and serving on committees. Mentoring will involve serving on
Linguistics and TESOL graduate thesis committees and developing research
projects with graduate and undergraduate students that lead to publications.

experience.
