Job Description:  
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a cutting-edge text-to-speech
synthesis (TTS) technology company. DeepZen is looking for remote freelance
Computational Linguists (hourly rate) to be able to complete audio and
phonemic transcription for German, as well as to be involved in other speech
linguistic tasks.  
  
Location: Remote  
  
Duties Include:  
- Phonemic transcription of lexicon entries in German.   
- Classifying and annotating linguistic data in German.   
- Evaluating performance of system.  
- Evaluating data quality.  
- Normalizing text through regular expressions.  
- Creating and developing rules for text normalisation.  
- Testing TTS voices and linguistic data.  
  
Requirements:  
- Near-level proficiency in German.  
- Degree in Linguistics, with specialization in Phonology, Computational
linguistics or similar.  
- Solid knowledge of regular expressions.  
- Solid knowledge of phonetics and phonology.  
- Clear, concise, effective written and spoken communication skills in English
and German.  
- Strong knowledge of German orthography and grammar.  
- Experience in phonemic/phonetic transcription. 
- Detailed-oriented with strong organisational and communication skills.  
- Keen interest in technology and computer-literate (need to be able to use
in-house tools).  
  
Preferred qualifications:  
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Python).  
- Familiarity with software tools.  
- Knowledge of Unix command line tools. 
- Solid communication skills.
