Short Title: EDILE

Date: 05-Sep-2022 - 08-Sep-2022
Location: Kanazawa, Japan

Meeting Email: gareth.roberts at ling.upenn.edu
Web Site: https://edile.herokuapp.com/

Linguistic Field(s): Historical Linguistics; Sociolinguistics

Call Deadline: 01-Jun-2022

Meeting Description:

A number of organizations related to our language evolution community have
called on their members to reckon with systemic bias in the histories of their
fields, scholarship practices, and current patterns of inclusion (see
statements from EvoLang, ProtoLang, the Cultural Evolution Society, EHBEA, the
Evolution Society and the Linguistic Society of America). Building on these
calls to action, we seek to bring this conversation to the Joint Conference on
Language Evolution.

Call for Papers:

We are interested in submissions on topics broadly related to equity and
diversity in language evolution. The session will take the form of a hybrid
poster session, with posters both physically exhibited at the conference in
Japan and linked to a short 3-5 minute (max 1000 words) online narrative. The
posters will be part of the main poster session of the Joint Conference on
Language Evolution. For presenters unable to attend the conference in person,
we are able to offer assistance in printing the poster. Digital versions of
the posters will be added to the website.
